LET´S GO TO THE PAST?

As we have already learned the Present let´s go to the Past.

Pretérito Perfeito (Past)  in Portuguese is the Simple Past or Present Perfect in English.

Eg. Eu almocei no Shopping ontem/ I had lunch at the Mall yesterday
      (almoçar: almocei/almoçou/almoçamos/almoçaram).

      Eles comeram muito na festa/ They have eaten a lot at the party.
      (comer: comi/comeu/comemos/comeram).

      Elas não dividiram a conta ontem/They didn´t split the bill yesterday.
      (dividir: dividi/dividiu/dividimos/dividiram).

Expressões/Expressions in the Past

ontem - yesterday
ontem de manhã - yesterday morning
ontem à tarde - yesterday afternoon
ontem à noite - last night
anteontem - the day before yesterday
a semana passada - last week
o mês passado - last month
o ano passado - last year


EXERCISES

I - Translate the sentences into Portuguese.
     a) I worked a lot last week.
         Eu trabalhei muito na semana passada.

     b) We ran in the park yesterday morning.
          Nós corremos no parque ontem de manhã.

   c) The cat ate all the food this morning.
        O gato comeu toda a comida esta manhã.

     d) He opened the door at 8 o`clock this morning.
          Ele abriu a porta às 8:00 horas esta manhã.

     e) She lived in São Paulo in the 1980´s.
         Ela morou em São Paulo nos anos 80.


     f) He closed the door yesterday at midnight .
         Ele fechou a porta ontem à meia noite.

     g) We liked the food of that Brazilian restaurant yesterday.
          Nós gostamos da comida daquele restaurante brasileiro ontem.
